Just had family for Thanksgiving. Craziness.

The week before I hurried and scurried, one armed, to ready the house and prep the meal for the families Thursday arrival. Ten AM First airport trip to get mom. Noon the second wave came. Then things got LOUD. Immediate jump into the festivities mode and cook a turkey for 6 PM dinner. Wine began flowing, mind you it was 1 PM at this point.

By 6 pm the starving were descending on the food. And more noise created. Music, clinking glasses, silverware scraping the plates. And laughter. Lots of laughter. My mother even laughed and she doesn't do that very often anymore.

We all collapsed into bed that night succumbing to the triptophan coma. But by 5:00 AM we were ready to start fun-having again. By 6:30 my mother was driving me crazy. But we enjoyed the glorious Seattle sunshine through the afternoon from the top of the Space Needle. The evening again was consumed with consumption: food, alcohol and revelry.

Each day more of the same. In 5 days, the dishwasher was run 8 times. Seven loads of laundry was done. The kitchen was cleaned at least 10 times, mainly by Kim. 33 showers were taken, and somewhere around 36 bottles of wine were consumed. There was only one adult discussion that was remotely considered an argument, but it only lasted about 2 minutes. Amazingly, minimal (if any) hangover was noted, but there was discussion about excluding one (or more) reveler from future functions.

Pretty much the typical family gathering.
